TATTOO GUIDE · PUNE

Will I need a tattoo touch-up?

Maybe. Some tattoos look great for years without one. Others may eventually benefit from a little work. There isn't a universal expiry date for a tattoo.

WHY TATTOOS CHANGE

Why tattoos change

Tattoo appearance can change with time because of skin, sun exposure, placement, tattoo style, ink and how well the tattoo was cared for while healing and afterwards.

Fine details, very small text and delicate lines can be more sensitive to how a tattoo ages than bold, simple shapes.

SUN EXPOSURE MATTERS

Sun exposure matters

UV exposure can fade some tattoo inks over time. Regular sun protection after the tattoo has healed can help reduce unnecessary fading.

That doesn't mean your tattoo needs to live indoors. It means sun protection is part of looking after tattooed skin.

WHEN DOES A TOUCH-UP MAKE SENSE?

When does a touch-up make sense?

A touch-up can make sense when a healed tattoo has lost definition, a small area has healed unevenly or you want to refresh part of an older piece.

The artist should look at the healed tattoo first. A photo can help us understand the situation, but seeing the tattoo in person is better when possible.

NOT EVERY TATTOO NEEDS ONE

Not every tattoo needs one

If your tattoo has healed well and you are happy with it, you don't need a touch-up just because some amount of time has passed.

We'd rather tell you that honestly than invent a reason to work on it.

ONE MORE QUESTION?

Still unsure?

That's exactly what a conversation with the artist is for.

How often should a tattoo be touched up?

There is no fixed schedule. Some tattoos may never need a touch-up, while others may need one after a few years depending on the tattoo and how it has aged.
