TATTOO GUIDE · PUNE
Is it safe to get a tattoo?
Yes — tattooing can be done safely when the studio follows proper hygiene practices and the tattoo is cared for properly afterwards. The studio you choose matters.
WHAT MAKES A TATTOO SESSION SAFE
What makes a tattoo session safe?
A tattoo involves breaking the skin, so hygiene is not something to leave to chance. At a minimum, you want a studio that uses sterile, single-use needles and follows appropriate hygiene practices throughout the session.
The equipment that touches the skin should be handled safely, surfaces should be kept clean and the artist should work in a way that reduces the chance of contamination. Tattoo inks and other materials should also come from reputable sources.
WHAT SHOULD YOU LOOK FOR?
What should you look for?
You don't need to be an expert to judge a studio. Look at how the artist prepares the station, how needles are handled and whether the studio takes cleanliness seriously.
It is completely reasonable to ask questions before you book. A good studio should be comfortable explaining its hygiene practices rather than making you feel awkward for asking.
AFTERCARE IS PART OF SAFETY
Aftercare is part of safety
The tattoo session is only part of the process. A fresh tattoo is healing skin, so following your artist's aftercare instructions matters. Keep it clean, avoid picking at peeling skin and give it time to heal.
If you notice something that concerns you during healing, don't simply ignore it. Persistent or unusual symptoms are worth discussing with a healthcare professional.

ONE MORE QUESTION?
Still unsure?
That's exactly what a conversation with the artist is for.
Is getting a tattoo completely risk-free?
No procedure that breaks the skin is completely risk-free. Good hygiene and sensible aftercare reduce avoidable risks, but your individual health and skin also matter.
